Hernández Miguel  (1910—1942)

Spanish poet, b. Orihuela. A completely self-taught writer, he absorbed the influence of the poets of the Golden Age and of the generation of García Lorca. His poetry, both tender and vigorous, reflects his own experience with war, death, and social injustice. His works include Cancionero y romancero de ausencias (1939; tr. Songbook of Absences, 1972).
